Spotlight on recent recipients

Azriel Cocchini Beck graduated from the MET in
2011. He is an intern at Studio 1011 and Providence
College, focused on athletic training, and studying
at Manhattanville College. He majors in Sociology
with a minor in Creative Writing, and has a 2.94
GPA. His future plans are to be a social worker and
be able to help open and manage a recreation center
in New York.
Na'sha Bailey is a graduate of the MET from 2012.
She is enrolled at Wheelock College, majoring in
social work with a minor in juvenile justice. She has
also maintained a position at Walgreens, volunteers at
the Crispus Attucks Children's Center in Dorchester,
and the Mission Safe after School Program in
Roxbury. Na'sha currently has a 2.98 GPA.
Steven Rego, Jr. graduated from Johnson and Wales
University with an associates degree in Culinary Arts
in 2012. Steven will continue his education at
Johnson and Wales to obtain a bachelors degree in
food service management. Steven's hobbies include
playing golf and martial arts. Steven currently
maintains a 2.94 GPA.
Sherly Charles graduated from the MET in 2011. She
is a premed student majoring in Justice Studies at
Rhode Island College. Sherly spent a year abroad
studying at a boarding school in Switzerland. She
was accepted to a Summer Intensive Language
Program in Salvador da Bahia, Brazil to learn
Portuguese and discover the Afro Brazilian culture
with a $1,000 scholarship. She currently carries a
3.0 GPA
Arianna Drummy is currently a freshman at
Emmanuel College in Boston pursuing a degree in
Psychology. She plans to transfer to Roger
Williams University next year. She enjoys working
at a summer arts camp during the summer, and
singing in her spare time. She is very excited about
seeking new experiences in the mental health field,
and hopefully becoming a clinical psychologist.
Arianna maintains a 3.1 GPA.
Thairis Rivas found her passion for helping others at the
MET. Thairis received a scholarship to Fairfield University
in Connecticut, where she has become a leader on campus--
voted as president of her residence hall as a freshmen, cofounding an anti-hate crime organization on campus, and
volunteering at numerous locations around the Fairfield/
Bridgeport community. She also holds 2 jobs on campus.
Currently, she is a senior, studying abroad in Nicaragua,
with plans to return to complete her degree in 2014.
Thairis maintains a 3.0 GPA in Spanish.

Angella Daluz is a "proud MET graduate", 19-years old who just began her sophomore year at Manhattanville College. She is pursuing her passion for International Studies with a double
minor in French and Public Relations. She currently has a GPA of 3.2.

Maria Gonzalez is 19-years old, living in Providence, RI, and graduated from The Met in 2011. She is currently attending Rhode Island College as a sophomore majoring in Spanish with
a minor in photography. She is currently carrying a 3.2 GPA .
Alicia Hoffman is a 19-year old sophomore at UCONN,
where she is studying cognitive science and therapeutic
horsemanship. She graduated from the Met in 2011 after
transferring from LaSalle Academy in December of 2008.
She has interned as an occupational therapist at Greenlock
Therapeutic Riding Center where she also volunteers. She
is now a therapeutic riding instructor at Greenlock and
spends her time off from school working there and caring
for her own horse. Alicia maintains a 3.67 GPA.
